What is a sweet potato?
The sweet potato is originally from Central and South America, but recently traces of this plant have been found in Polynesia around 1000 AD. They belong to the dicots and tubers. The leaves are sometimes eaten and they are slightly related to the common potato. The two most common variations are the orange sweet potato and the light purple-skinned sweet potato.
The plant is mainly used in culinary dishes, especially in Asia and Africa. Nowadays we use it more and more in the Netherlands, through one of the many sweet potato recipes. In South America, the juice of the potato is sometimes also used to make a natural dye to color clothes and clothes. It is also a popular plant to use in aquariums because the leaves grow quickly in water and the potato absorbs a lot of ammonia and nitrogen at the same time.
Why is sweet potato healthy?
Especially after the last example of the aquarium, a sweet potato seems to be a separate vegetable. Still, it has many benefits for our health and it is definitely recommended to eat once or twice a week. They contain a lot of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They are also easy to prepare and go with almost any meal.

They are also packed with vitamins A, C, and manganese. In addition, they also contain a lot of antioxidants, which protect your body from external damage.

There are two types of fiber in this plant: soluble and insoluble fiber. Both types linger in your gut and provide a healthy environment there. Soluble fiber makes your stool softer, while insoluble fiber prevents your stool from becoming too soft. Both fibers also keep the inner lining of your intestines strong and healthy.
